The Exquisite-Telephone Quilt Workshop
Originally an experimental quilting game using the principles of the dadaist drawing technique: the exquisite corpse; now revamped with the connotations of the game of telephone.
The aim of this approach will be to inspire each other to create an intuitive work by reacting to what is immediately given to us.
This workshop will consist of timed rounds: sew a quilt block, pass it to the next quilter. Each round the quilter must piece a quilt block connecting to the block before it. At the end of 6 rounds each participant will have a row of 6 blocks to take home: a collaborative catalyst for your next quilt!

Intro to Improvised Quilting:an 6 Week Course
The aim of this course will be to introduce improvised quilting in the structure of a sampler. New and experienced students are invited to attend this course as it introduces beginner friendly ideas and new methods of reflecting on the sewist’s instincts. The class will go through all aspects of making a quilt from piecing to quilting and binding. Each week students will make a sampler block investigating a new improvisation prompt, skill or concept. The finished project will be a table runner or small wall hanging showcasing these experimental sampler blocks.
Quilting is as much about the process as it is about the finished quilt. It is an exercise in exploring one's relationship to navigating entropy: finding narrative and pattern in chaos. Playing with how many possibilities and pieces and colors and textures are before you and empowering oneself to make decisions and be flexible to change.

Improvised Projects:an 6 Week Course
This course is a supportive class for improvised projects on varying scales, suited to help students pursue a project of their own design. We will investigate improvised practices and explore the journey of this type of quilting while learning how to give the process of creating a supportive structure. The six weeks will center on the student discovering their own personality as a quilter, particularly as an improviser, and find confidence there. The aim of this course will be to help students build an understanding and relationship with their own quilting personality. They will learn to set strategies for their process while also learning to cope with the evolutions and shifts that come up in the work. Students will also learn how to share work and get feedback from other students and build community in making.

SPRING 2026 SESSION ANNOUNCED SOON
Memory Quilting:
3 Week Workshop
Clothing and napkins and bed sheets and aprons and towels and pillow cases hold us through all kinds of memory. This 3 session workshop is built around creating narrative and object from the materials of our memories. Students will be taught and guided through how to engage with and deconstruct challenging materials into usable fabric pieces while also being guided through questions and meditations of how memory is informing the work itself and the future of the finished piece. Be it memories of last summer, your grandmother, your ex, your trip to Greece, your eating disorder, your old apartment: memories that you want to hold onto, process through or else lay to rest, these workshops will support you both technically and mindfully on how to create while engaging with memory.
